Three ways to get your photographs restored or retouched:
There are three convenient ways to get Paul your original photographs to be restored. High quality photo restorations depend on the quality of the original source material. Its best to let Paul work from your original photographs where he has control over the scanning and image capture. 98% of his clients use this option. You may also choose to send Paul your scanned images, which he will review and let you know if they are suitable for restoration. There are many factors to consider when scanning photographs so please read the information posted on the Scanning Your Photos page first before you submit an image.
1. Drop off and pick up. If you live in Connecticut or neighboring states and prefer meeting in person then please call 860-638-0890 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange for a convenient time to meet and review your photo restoration project. An estimate will be prepared while you wait and you can leave your photographs to scan and begin your photo restoration. No deposit is necessary for in-person drop off. Get directions here.
2. Ship your original photographs. If you live outside of CT or prefer shipping direct then be sure to package your originals between two pieces of heavy cardboard or similar material and place them in a standard mailing envelope available from your local post office, or retail office supply store. Ship using a trackable delivery method (USPS includes this option free on their Priority Service mail). The parcel should arrive within 3 days or less. You will be notified as soon as the original is received to discuss the job and provide you with an estimate.
3. Send a scan to review and provide a quote. The quality of the original scan is critical for the successful outcome of a photo restoration project. Although Paul does receive scans submitted by customers, very rarely is a submitted scan suitable for high-quality photo restoration work. Scanning is both art and science and requires knowledge and understanding of some very technical concepts and work flow. These are normally the domain of graphic arts professionals, printers, or pre-press specialists who use high-end scanners that have been specially calibrated along with monitor and printer calibration, to help get the best color match possible from three very different devices. This guarantees that the scanned image is sharp and colors as correct as possible. NOTE: all files can be submitted using the Order Form; the file hosting service Dropbox is optional for uploading larger .psd files. Please do not send scans attached to an e-mail.
Payment. For first time customers dropping off and picking up original and restored photographs, payment for services and goods must be made in cash upon completion of job. No deposit is necessary. For returning customers, payment by personal check is acceptable upon completion of job. If you are shipping original photographs or posting scans as attachments to the Order Form, then a 50% deposit is required after submission and acceptance of estimate, before beginning the restoration. Balance is due upon review and approval of before & after .jpeg proof, which is posted via e-mail attachment after the restoration is completed. PBPhotoRestore invoices for deposit and final balance payments are posted via email. If you prefer to make payments via PayPal, you will also receive an invoice from PayPal. Upon receipt of either invoice, payments can be made by personal check or by using PayPal.
After deposit payment is received Paul will begin the restoration; after balance payment is received, original photography and your restored prints will be shipped, or if you prefer, Paul will post your restored image as a high-resolution .jpeg file for you to make your own prints. Most orders are custom printed on 8 1/2 x 11 sheets and a shipping and handling charge of $6.45 will be applied to all jobs that require shipping. Large prints -- up to 13 x 19 inches -- may require additional shipping cost and will be noted on the original estimate. USPS Priority Mail with tracking is used on all orders shipped.
